Hey {{First Name | there }},

How’s your week going?

I’ve recently been hearing quite a few conversations around sending out job applications in bulk and it peaked two questions…

1️⃣ Are job seekers tailoring their resume to achieve the most success possible?

My short answer - no.

2️⃣ Should job seekers tailor their resume to achieve the most success possible?

My short answer - YES.

This week, in Career Conversions, we’re diving into how to tailor your resume and why it’s important.

First things first, you need to know that sending the same resume for each and every job application is like wearing the same outfit for every occasion.

You need to stand out to get noticed!

Here's the magic word: Tailoring. Just like your outfit should match the occasion, your resume needs to be customized for each job you go after.

Why? Because employers are looking for specific skills and experiences. By highlighting the ones that perfectly align with the job description, you're basically saying, "Hey there, dream job! It's me, your perfect match!"

So, how do you do it? Let's break it down

Read. Obsessively. Devour the job description like it's the latest gossip mag. (Okay, maybe not that intense.) Underline, highlight, circle - whatever works for you.

Translation Station. Figure out what skills and experiences they're REALLY looking for, not just the fancy words they use. Think "team player" instead of "synergistic collaborator."

Summarize. Rewrite relevant sections like your skills and experience summaries to showcase the skills mentioned in the job description.

Spotlight Accomplishments. Highlight past projects or experiences that demonstrate the skills required. Bonus points if you can quantify your impact with numbers!

Tailor it to each job application, and watch those interview invites roll in!
