EVENT SPOTLIGHT

Live Workshop: Turn AI Experiments Into Real Results (Nov 19)

Before I dive into today’s topic about why companies REALLY hire, I have something special to share!

I’m co-hosting a live workshop with my good friend, and Corporate Digital Transformation leader, Jeneba Wint.

If you’re new here, it’s no secret that I build with AI. I’ve built two AI-powered career platforms and served as an AI Literacy Director, helping hundreds of residents in my city get trained on AI. Jeneba, meanwhile, has been deeply embedded in corporate operations and technical teams, driving digital transformation from the inside out.

Together, we bring over 20 years of experience in tech, digital transformation, and operational strategy.

Next week, we’re putting a digital professional in the hot seat during a hands-on coaching workshop, and you’re invited to follow along and learn with us!

This 30-minute live session on Maven is designed for:
→ AI enthusiasts
→ AI Curious Builders (No tech skills needed)
→ L&D professionals & program directors
→ Internal AI champions bringing AI initiatives to life inside their organizations

You’ll walk away knowing:

  • How to define your purpose, user, and success metrics before prompting

  • How to turn clear ideas into bold, measurable AI outcomes

  • How to tailor AI tools to people and systems (not the other way around)

If your goal is to translate AI experimentation into real results and make the case for continued AI investment in your business, company, or team, then this workshop is for you.

FRAMEWORK SPOTLIGHT

Do Companies Hire People
 or Solutions?

Every open role exists to solve a specific kind of pain, but most job seekers just scan for the title or salary before deciding if it’s a fit.

Here’s the truth: the most aligned careers rarely come from chasing job titles or paychecks. They’re a journey, and the professionals who are truly thriving have figured out a few things most people overlook:

  • They understand why the role exists before accepting a job offer.

  • They know that accepting a job offer is a business deal. They’re providing a service (their skills) to a business (their employer).

Before you object and tell me about the job market, trust me, I get it. Job descriptions are vague, and manager requests rarely tell the full story. But the core reasons companies hire new employees (and keep the ones they have) haven’t changed.

I put together a simple framework to help you read between the lines, in job postings and conversations, so you can uncover what kind of hire a company actually needs, and what the work will really look like once you’re in the seat.

Companies hire

đŸ—ïž BUILDERS
TO GROW SOMETHING

If you’re a Builder, you’re hired to scale and grow what’s already working. These roles focus on accelerating momentum, optimizing systems, and expanding reach. Builders thrive in environments where progress is measurable, resources are available, and the goal is to move fast without breaking what’s already functioning.

Job Description Keywords: scale, growth, expansion, go-to-market, performance, pipeline, acceleration, growth strategy, optimization, increase

đŸ€Č STEADY HANDS
TO MAINTAIN SOMETHING

If you’re a Steady Hand, you’re hired to keep things consistent, reliable, and under control. These roles often live in operations, compliance, or infrastructure and require high attention to detail. You excel where predictability is a strength, and maintaining quality over time is critical to success.

Job Description Keywords: consistency, process, compliance, monitoring, operations, standard operating procedures, documentation, upkeep, quality assurance, reliability

đŸ‘©â€đŸ”Ź INVENTORS
TO INVENT OR REINVENT SOMETHING

If you’re an Inventor, you’re hired to build something from scratch or radically rethink what already exists. These roles thrive on ambiguity and demand creative problem-solving and strategic imagination. You’re often brought in to lead transformation and explore uncharted territory.

Job Description Keywords: innovation, transformation, reimagine, rethink, ideation, 0 to 1, prototype, design thinking, future state, experimentation, build from scratch

đŸ§Œ CLEANUP CREW
TO FIX WHAT’S BROKEN

If you’re part of the Cleanup Crew, you’re hired to step into chaos or dysfunction and turn things around. These roles require grit, clear diagnostics, and decisive action. You know how to restore stability, rebuild trust, and lead teams out of the mess.

Job Description Keywords: turnaround, remediation, troubleshoot, rebuild, crisis, audit, diagnose, legacy systems, fix, repair, resolve, dysfunction

đŸ˜© PRESSURE VALVES
TO RELIEVE OVERLOAD

If you’re a Pressure Valve, you’re hired because someone, or an entire team, is overloaded. These roles exist to absorb pressure, create capacity, and bring calm to chaos. You thrive in execution-heavy environments where speed, structure, and support are everything.

Job Description Keywords: support, bandwidth, overflow, administrative, coordination, enablement, backfill, execution, task ownership, capacity, relief

📈 CREDIBILITY BOOSTERS
TO SIGNAL SOMETHING

If you’re a Credibility Booster, you’re hired to send a message. Whether it’s about DEI, innovation, leadership, or legitimacy, your presence is a signal to the market or the team. These high-visibility roles require presence, influence, and the ability to shape perception.

Job Description Keywords: DEI, brand, visibility, representation, strategic hire, public-facing, credibility, investor confidence, thought leadership, presence
